All employees must have eligibility to work in the United States, a valid California driver’s license and are required to obtain Live Scan clearance (no criminal record), pass a TB screening and procure First Aide/CPR certificate. All Emerging Horizons staff are to participate in monthly staff/in-service training meetings.
Staff Screening
EH recognizes its responsibility to ensure that all of the staff providing service and support to consumers will provide the highest level of quality service. Prior to receiving a formal offer of employment each prospective instructional staff member undergo the following screening process:
- Submission of a written employment application including provision of work history, references, and experience providing service and support to individuals with developmental disabilities;
- Interview process with EH ILS Executive Director including review of interest in providing instructional support to people with disabilities and experience;
- Reference check including calls to at least three personal or professional references;
- Verification of previous work history and professional license, if applicable;
- Submission of Statement indicating no criminal history;
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States;
- Review and signing of dependent adult abuse and Regional Center of the East Bay Special Incident reporting requirements.
When an individual is offered employment, they will be required to:
- Complete a minimum of ten hours of orientation and on-the-job training (2 hours per consumer), for which they will be paid.
- Obtain a Live Scan clearance.
- Pass a TB test.
- Each employee who may be transporting consumers will be required to provide a valid California Driver’s License, a current DMV printout of their driving record, and current proof of insurance.
- Produce a current First/Aide/CPR certificate.
