Emerging Horizons is committed to providing developmentally disabled people with a safe environment and at same time support them with living healthy lives. We believe that developmentally disabled people have the right to be treated in a caring, professional and effective manner. Furthermore, people with developmental disabilities are entitled to choose where they want to live, whom to live with, what to do, and be part of their community. We believe in inclusion and full participation of developmentally disabled people in all aspects of their lives.

Emerging Horizons will provide the training necessary for the consumer to live in the home of his or her choice, in the community of his or her choice. We will work collaboratively with consumers to build necessary networks that are meaningful to them and that will integrate them into the lives of their communities. We will employ as many community based program services as possible on behalf of our consumers in order to guarantee their right to make decisions about their life, keep them safe and ensure their well-being. We will provide training services in their homes with an emphasis on functional skills taught in everyday environments.

The goals and objectives of our service to each consumer will be decided on an individual basis at the annual Individual Service Plan (ISP) meeting by the consumer, his/her Inter-Disciplinary Team (IDT) members and the Consumer’s Circle of Support (e.g. parents/caregivers, friends and extended family).
